Itâs that time of year again! From John Lewisâs tear-jerker ad to JD Sportsâ inspirational star-studded campaign, the first flurry of Christmas ads are finally here to grace our screens. To get you into the festive spirit, weâve compiled some of the best ones so far!Â
1ď¸âŁ John Lewis
Itâs the one weâve been waiting for! The new John Lewis ad for 2022, titled âThe Beginner", hits home really hard and has received incredible reactions so far. By telling a heartfelt story of one manâs determination to connect with a child, the key message of John Lewisâs advert was to emphasise just how powerful kindness can be in impacting someoneâs life.
"We are fortunate to have a truly unique platform in our Christmas ad, which sparks a national conversation⌠For our biggest moment of the year, we decided to focus on one kind of family that is often overlooked," said Claire Pointon, the Director of Customer at John Lewis. âThe Beginnersâ demonstrates a consistent commitment to John Lewis's goal of making a genuine difference in communities and was partnered with charities such as Action for Children and Who Cares? Scotland, as well as specialist advisors throughout the production process.

2ď¸âŁ Lidl
The hero of Lidlâs 2022 Christmas campaign is a stuffed toy in a branded jumper, cleverly named âLidl Bearâ: a cute teddy bear dressed in an accidentally shrunk-down Lidl knitted jumper. After being spotted in the Lidl aisles, Lidl Bear finds himself propelled into the limelight and away from his family.
After experiencing the highs and lows of festive fame, he has realised what really matters and returned home in time to celebrate Christmas with his young owner, whoâs been missing him and who puts out a call for him on television to come home.
Sadly, the Lidl Bear wonât be available to buy for those hoping to own him - he's one of a kind - but you will be able to donate toys to Lidl, which will go to those in need over this festive period.

3ď¸âŁ Aldi
It wouldnât be the festive season without Kevin the Carrot from Aldi Christmas advert!
This yearâs advert is inspired by the iconic Christmas movie âHome Aloneâ, where Kevin the Carrot has to fend for himself after missing his flight to Paris with his family.
The advert sees Kevin devise a series of incident-packed exchanges between himself and the unexpected 'intruder' â culminating in a finale where all is revealed (Itâs Santa, ofcourse!). The advert has left us feeling in a super festive mood ready to fill our home with Christmas decor ideas, especially as the Christmas countdown begins.

4ď¸âŁ Asda
Starring Will Ferrel from the much-loved festive film âElfâ as Buddy, Asdaâs Christmas advert will definitely make you smile!
Cleverly merging footage from the classic, heartwarming movie from 2003 with newly filmed scenes, weâll be following Buddy as he applies for a temporary role at the supermarket and does a trial shift in store within the advert. Despite tangling with trees, dodging trolleys and renaming the self-checkout 'elf-checkout' for the occasion, Buddy impresses the manager and gets the job.
