TikTok's effect on shopping trends is powerful. Over recent years, the platform has transformed shopping behaviour and become a key driver of purchase intent and product discovery. This is evident with the rise of movements like ‘#TikTokMadeMeBuyIt.’ 🛒

This week, TikTok announced it is taking a step forward in its eCommerce integration with the launch of a new commerce ad suite called “Shopping Ads”. The new ad suite will provide more ways for brands to advertise their products in-stream to TikTok's 1 billion monthly active users.

As explained by TikTok:

“Shopping Ads is a simpler, smarter, and more advanced ad solution that helps brands meet shoppers wherever they are in the purchase journey, sparking demand and boosting sales. It’s a three-in-one solution with new formats to adopt and combine: Video Shopping Ads, Catalog Listing Ads, and LIVE Shopping Ads.”

Here's a look at the three new formats that will help make selling simple on TikTok:

  1. Video Shopping Ads: Enable advertisers to highlight one or more products within their in-feed video ads in a way that amplifies product discovery and purchase intent. TikTok says that video Shopping Ads provide dynamic experiences based on the shopper’s intent to purchase, with smart targeting and optimised ad delivery to maximise the campaign’s impact.

  2. Catalog Listing Ads: Catalog Listing Ads enable brands to scale their product catalogs across TikTok, with new placements, and expand their reach beyond the 'For You' page to shoppable surfaces such as Recommended Products or Related Products. Plus, no video assets are needed!

  3. LIVE Shopping Ads: You can now drive engagement from the 'For You' page to your live shopping experiences and show your products to shoppers who are more likely to buy through live shopping ads.
